Preparing for a new chapter….

Horse & Groom Wilmington

Welcome to The Horse & Groom

Over the years whilst driving past the old Horse & Groom, many of us have seen the building go from a popular locals pub to a sad, run down and neglected site. Having sat empty and boarded up for many years, you’ll be pleased to hear things are finally looking up for the once loved building. Having spent the last few months being fully renovated and refurbished as a food led venue, The Horse & Groom is getting set to welcome in guests through the door once more.

With a pub area to the front and an expansive area for dining to the rear, The Horse & Groom is preparing to serve fresh and seasonal produce with a daily changing menu, seven days a week. An award winning wine selection alongside both unusual and well loved real ales, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

With comfortable, cosy seating, delicious pub dishes, and local, real ales served onto their trademark copper bar top, this is not the first time these seasoned operators have taken on a project such as this. Past achievements (and labours of love) include The Lord Northbrook pub in Lee , South East London. Ironically once the winner of “London’s Worst Pub” award, this community pub full of charm and character can now boast the winner of (national award) Shortlist’s Pub of the Year and Time Out’s Love London Award for Best Pub in 2014.

Landlord Paul Giles who once ran award winning pub The Cricketers in Meopham hopes the local community will welcome in the change, and enjoy the British classics they are planning for the menu. ” We’re not just aiming to have one great menu for people to like. We’ll be changing the menu daily to ensure the freshest, locally sourced and seasonal dishes for our guests to come and enjoy a variety of options again and again.”

The Horse & Groom’s past may be an interesting one but according to it’s new owners there is certainly life in the old dog (or horse perhaps) yet. As finishing touches take place, the “Welcome” mat shall be placed at the door for an opening date in late October.

We look forward to you visiting and enjoying an exciting (and delicious) new chapter in the tale of The Horse & Groom.
